Canadian Bar Association – The Canadian Bar Association's Dial-a-Law website is a useful resource for the public. It offers general information on a variety of topics.

Legal Aid BC – If you do not have the financial resources to pay for a lawyer, you may qualify for Legal Aid. Legal Aid is only available for criminal and some family issues.

Small Claims BC – The BC Small Claims Court has a useful website that can help guide you through the process for resolving disputes of under $35,000. For disputes of under $5,000, you may be able to use their online Civil Resolution Tribunal.

The Peoples Law School

The People's Law School has a number of helpful guides that are clearly written and concise. They may be a helpful resource for if you'd like to do some research before consulting a lawyer. In particular, we'd recommend:

A Death in Your Family – This guide covers preparing for the death of a loved one, what to do immediately after the death, making the funeral arrangements, and where to find support.
